You could see the ref just waiting to jump in, even before Simms was in any trouble.

Yup. Lashley is the future. Can't let some pasty white dude with a 14-year-old-girl pooch manage a triangle or something.

Sims did himself no favors there. Sure, it was short notice for him, but he's the kind of recognizable opponent that needs to keep himself in shape for those last-minute calls to sub in on a fight. Reality though, he's been pretty terrible of late (if he was ever really more than just a journeyman) and should probably get out now if he's not willing to stay in shape and give maximum effort.

I can't stand him. He looks like a reject from the Gary Busey clan, and he's an annoying, unfunny twat.

Yeah no kidding. You'd think he'd at least try to stay in decent condition. I haven't followed his career, but I would assume he could get several regional type fights.

If he can deliver consistent efforts in the cage, he's the perfect late sub type of fighter. He's big, he's obnoxious, he's been in with some decent guys, he's just shooting himself in the foot with performances like that one. I like in the post-fight interview where he said Lashley was poking him in the throat with his thumb. Don't know if it's true or not, but he also said he was going to attack Lashley after the interview. I'd be interested in seeing video of that. laugh.gif

Several times, from what Sims said. I don;t recall how many times he was warned, but the second warning should have been to stop the action, stand them up, and tell Lashley that he's taking a point or DQ'ing him if it happens again. You don't just warn a guy several times and do nothing else for something like an illegal choke.

I saw no problem with the stoppage. Sims was getting worked and wasn't giving anything back. Why let it go anymore and risk serious injury?

I loved how Sims reached out at the opening bell.....he wanted to do a WWE inspired hand-clutch to see who the stronger man was. laugh.gif

Lashley didn't blink.
