By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer Jaime Aron, Ap Sports Writer – 52 mins ago DALLAS – About 41,000 tickets have been sold for the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium on Saturday night. That's around 4,000 away from a sellout for the first boxing match at the $1.2 billion stadium. Promoter Bob Arum says he's not sure whether people are coming to see Pacquiao — widely considered the best boxer, pound per pound — or this showplace facility, which Arum called "the greatest venue in the world." Arum said he's eager to hold more fights at the home of the Dallas Cowboys. He said on a conference call that Kelly Pavlik, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and other boxers will be at the fight in hopes of getting to become headliners there. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said his stadium becoming a top destination would boost the sport of boxing. |

Yeah, no shit. And some of those seats have to be a million miles away. 2 ants fighting on a matchbook, as they would say. This is really impressive, seeing how Dallas isn't exactly the boxing center of the universe. That, and 2 non-Amercian combatants going at it, and it still is about to sell out. Impressive. |

Well, some of it is people just wanting to see the stadium and unable to do so via Cowboys tickets. I'm sure a good glut of the tickets for the NBA All Star game fell into that same category. |

Oh if I had the means right now I absolutely would go to this, just for the fact that it's in that stadium. Definately a selling point. I actually think the way things have worked out is great. Pacquaio still gets a good fight, the spectacle of the stadium makes up for the perceived lack of star opponent.

Very impressive - boxing is far from dead. All you need to do is put on compelling fights and promote like hell! If only Arum would have booked this fight with a solid undercard...... |

Nobody goes to a fight for the undercard. |

And some of those seats have to be a million miles away. Not if they're only selling 45,000 seats. That must mean floor and lower level only. How many does it hold? I never like seeing events in arenas too big for them. Even with 40,000+ a half empty arena will kill the atmosphere. You'd be better off with 20,000 packed into a smaller stadium. |

I was gonna say they should bring back fights at Yankee stadium before I realized it was gone. Wrigley and Fenway need to step up.
