Now there is a fight that makes sense. They mentioned it on MMA insider. Silva wont turn it into a ground fight as he wants to prove himself. Also Silva has the kicking weapons to turn the fight in his favor. Toney said he could get don to 205. I would like to see this. It would be very interesting. I think Silva wins based on his ability to use all strikes especially kicks. I wouldnt say it is a sure thing though as Toney would be bigger and one punch could end it.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. Seeing as how Anderson's dream was to fight Roy Jones, I'm sure he'd just LOVE the opportunity to fight James. Standing up striking. |

Don who? He ain't getting himself to 205, so hopefully this Don guy is already close, maybe 215 or so.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that Anderson Silva would annihilate James Toney in an octagon. Maybe regardless of what weight he comes in at.

He won't go pull the BJJ card that is not Anderson's personality. Anderson will use the muay thai kick which will wreck Toney's legs quickly. Although Toney with the 4 oz. gloves has a shot to hurt Anderson before Anderson chops him down. It is a very interesting fight especially if Toney learns to check a leg kick. |

In the octagon, he might give it a shot for a while, but he'd turn to Muay Thai pretty quick. |

Anderson could be the first person to knock Toney out if he kicked to the head with his Muay Thai kick or toney could be the first one to knock out Anderson if he hit him with a straight right. I would just like to see that fight. Much more interesting than any other Anderson fight short of Machida or Rua. |

I'm thinking that's the smart game-plan. Take out the legs. He can stay on the outside and pick apart James' legs. |

The difference though is boxing has a little more benefit in the UFC as the gloves are only 4 oz. |

Checking a leg kick and checking an Anderson Silva leg kick are different things. |

Just feinting a leg will be enough because kicking is a dynamic Toney has never seen before and will likely overreact to it. Don't be surprised if Silva put his lights out with a straight punch, off a leg feint.

This might be the type of shit that will make me pay attention to these glorified bar brawls. The product MMA is putting out whips the hell out of boxing right now. When was the last legitimate title fight that got any sort of serious buy rate? I'm talking two guys working through a division and meeting for any semblance of a unified title. Every mega fight for past number of years is two guys fighting at whatever weight is convenient and if there is a title involved, no one even cares what it is. You and I both know that boxing is hanging itself right now. |
