Most of the heavyweight champions got into the hall of fame. Since Haye was already a champion at cruiserweight, if he knocks out Wlad for the title he becomes an instant hall of famer. So in other words all of the guys who bashed Wlad will be pulling hard for him that night.

So in other words all of the guys who bashed Wlad will be pulling hard for him that night. Maybe, but there's a few problems with that: 1) Haye's likely to maybe defend the title once in a rematch(which, if he won only via lucky punch the first time, he'll lose). 2) He's got a relatively low number of total fights, which tends to mitigate against him getting into the HOF. I don't just mean "compared to old school guys", I mean he's got a low number of fights, period. If he follows through on his vow to retire at the end of next year, he'll have at most 29 total fights. Who in the HOF has that few pro fights? 3) No evidence thus far that he'll ever get in the ring with Wlad. Or Vitali. |

Most heavyweight champs got in. Braddock got in. If you win a title at a lower weight class and then move up and win it, that's automatic.

Well, since Michael Spinks is in there with only 32 fights, I can't totally disagree with you. But there are people here confidently asserting Wlad will never make it into the HOF, even though he's got multiple title defenses and will probably retire with 50+ KOs and maybe 60+ total fights. |

This hypothetical question is moot, until Haye actually gets in the ring with one of the Klits. However if this is true, why isn't Haye rushing to get a fight signed, so his legacy and HOF credentials are enhanced? |

He'll never fight a Klitschko. He's much further than one lucky punch away.
